Knowledge & Practice · Management

Do I actually need management yet?

Not necessarily. And a serious agency should tell you exactly that.

Management isn't a status symbol.

It's a tool.

And a tool makes sense when it brings you more value than it costs in effort or money.

Seven signs management could be worth it

  1. You spend more time on emails than on content

    Briefs, follow-up questions, changes, appointments.

At some point, the organising becomes a job in itself.

  2. You don't know what to charge

    Every enquiry feels like guesswork.

  3. You're unsure about rights and exclusivity

You don't really know what you're giving away when you say yes.

  4. You keep getting the same small enquiries

But bigger or longer-term partnerships that fit hardly ever come along.

  5. Several deals overlap

Deadlines, approvals and content become hard to keep track of.

  6. Invoices and payments eat into your time

You want to make content – not chase payments.

  7. You want to broaden your business

Not just the next brand deal, but additional income streams.

When management may still be too early

If you:

  • are just starting out,
  • aren't producing content regularly yet,
  • don't yet know which direction you want to take,
  • hardly get any business enquiries,

then classic full management may still be too early.

That's not a disadvantage.

It just means other questions matter more right now.

This is where FC24 starts earlier

Maybe you don't need management yet.

But you can already find out:

  • which topics suit you,
  • which platforms make sense,
  • whether UGC could be a way in,
  • which income streams exist,
  • how to build your content more professionally.

Build the creator business first. Bring in management where it genuinely adds value.

Example

You have:

  • regular content
  • your first UGC enquiries
  • two small brand deals

You may not need full management yet.

But you should already know:

  • how UGC is priced,
  • what usage rights mean,
  • which brands fit,
  • how you can develop several income streams.

Six months later, five partnerships running in parallel can create a completely different situation.

In short

Management isn't a status symbol.

It's a tool.

And it's a good one when it:

saves time, enables better deals, reduces risk and makes your business more professional.

Not sure what you need yet?

That's completely fine.
